No Break (No Stagger) make the character with the weapon unable to Break (Stagger) the enemy so it will stay at (example:) 199.9% / 200% until someone in your team without a No Break (Stagger) weapon hits it

you can buy all of items for upgrading in the shop.but these items are very expensive.so I recommend that you collect treasures in the field,and beat the enemies for items.and you can make Gil by selling them.

No break is like stagger lock 119.9%of 120% maximum damage but not stagger I have a sword that has stagger lock and so does sazh so it up to vannile as a sabateur to stagger it. Unless you change their weapons.

I bought the guide (a bit expensive at $24.99 but really nicely done) and yes it has most of what you need from bestiaries to weapon upgrades, walkthroughs and so on. the coolest thing about it is the fact that they don’t spoil the plot too much and still have all the extras, strategies and sidequests. hope this helps

i recommend…first make a Taming pole lance of kain.becauseFang is strongest in the party.next make a Ogrenix omega weapon.When you try to beat a Shaorongui(a turtle),you will be feel good.Lion heart omega weapon is no good.Lion heart(early break) will make good showing in the mission 45 and 55 battles.

Stagger lock means you can build the gauge all the way up to the threshold, but you can’t push it over. You need a partner who doesn’t have stagger-lock to stagger the enemy at that point. Lightning makes a poor choice for a stagger-lock weapon since she does spend a good amount of time as a ravager. Leave stagger-lock for the characters who spend most of their time as Commando like Fang.

Best weapons for Lightning are Axis Blade and Lionheart. Blazefire Edge and Gladius are also good choices early on to upgrade, but the other two are superior. If you paradigm shift a lot, or use manual commands over auto-battle more, choose Lionheart. Otherwise, if you just auto-battle, Axis Blade will do more damage and build up chain gauge faster. Avoid Lifesaber and Organyx. Lifesaber’s effect is pretty useless, and Organyx’ slow is extremely crippling — doesn’t even result in more damage and hurts your ability to help heal as a medic with Lightning.

hmm so staggerlock does mean that one character can build up the gauge to almost to the stagger point but cannot make the final stagger? The weapon has alot of attackpower, so is this better than lionheart? because it say’s it can only stagger enemey’s faster NEAR THEIR STAGGER TRESHOLD. So it sounds like it only staggers faster when the enmey is almost at full stagger point -.-

can anyone verify ?

So I did a lil test on the Axis Blade. Piece of crap really but with Whistlewind Scarfs it turns into a deadly weapon. I’m not joking either. This can be EXTREMELY helpful when trying to juggle a boss. So far I have 1 Aurora Scarf (for first strike and unlocking +10% ATB gain) and 2 Whistlewind Scarfs (for an additional +10% ATB regain 20% ATB regain speed total) and Sazh with Spica (for Haste increase and what not). Let me just say… I can’t play Light now cause it makes me dizzy going back and forward so damn much. I’ll let the computer handle Light from now on.

Edit: This could also be something but instead of an early Stagger why not fill it up really fast with Ravenger Light shooting spree?

No, all you need is to get one ultimate weapon per character. For example, if you upgrade one of Light’s weapons to ultimate (Omega Weapon) you don’t need to upgrade any of her other weapons that far because you already got it.

I believe you can upgrade all the weapons to their ultimate form, this is just a huge waste of resources and is generally not recommended (unless you have a ton of extra high-value items). So if you like, go for it, but only one ultimate weapon is needed for the Treasure Hunter trophy/achievement.
Not sure about the different look.. maybe someone can just quickly upgrade 2 weapons and confirm this (and then just don’t save the game obviously)?

Some of you guys have failed to take into consideration that one can easily have over 3000 attack or magic strength by the time you’ve developed your crystal fully and have decent accessories, so what is 200 or so in strength compared to a really great weapon effect? IMHO good effects win out (ie Lionheart > all)

I’ve beaten 99% of this game and I would say that the Lionharts early break is almost useless, the hardest bosses you wont even come close to staggering or it’s actually not a good idea at all ( Vercingotrix, Neochu, Gigantaur and in the case of Raktavija only 4% earlier.. 200 increase to both Magic and strength is a potent upgrade, makes her a more potent healer and even better commando, Hautleclaire FTW.

I’ve maxed every character, and I can tell you the Early Stagger from Lionheart will be the best thing for taking out Adamantoise’s legs much faster. Farming is super easy with Fang (Dragoon Lance), Lightning (Lionheart), Vanille (Belladonna Wand).

Lemon in the long term you are after having all weapons upgraded at least to second tier because there is an award for having all chars having held all weapons. For upgrading to omega weapon Axis Blade is a bad idea as omega weapon loses synthesis groups so you would lose the +5% ATB gain from combining it with other accessories. Lionheart is good if you use lightning as a ravenger, as for Hauteclaire that is good as long as you have at least one character without a No Stagger weapon. Gladius is not worth it as it has low magic which counteracts Lightning’s ability to be a good ravenger and medic and the strength difference is negligible compared to Hauteclaire.
As for Shawn’s comment he forgot to take into account the damage cap so having 4x Kaiser Knuckles for +1200 str becomes pointless above 600% chain guage as all your attacks hit the damage cap rather have 3x and a gengi glove. As for Carl’s question you find one in mah’habara in ch11 and Uranite can only be brought from shops, found in treasure orbs or as afirst reward for some missions (although it is hardly expensive).

In my opinion, Lionheart ‘s ability isn’t really useful.

I play with Fang,Hope,Light or switch Light with Fang.
When your team is buffed, and Hope has Nue under the orshirovani w.e weapon and Light has Omega Weapon under the Axis Blade tree, using Army of One, It will take VERY VERY little time for you to get them to 999.99% Stagger. Light should have more than 3 ATB gauges filled after her attack and should should be ready to go hit him for another 100% chain. Much better than some Lionheart that has a “chance” to instantly stagger which i never found useful at all.

I actually have to agree what Shin said earlier on in this thread:

1. Go for the Ultima Weapon (Axis Blade) when using auto attack and little Paradigm Shifts;
2. Go for the Ultima Weapon (Lionheart) when using manual attacks and lots of Paradigm Shifts;
3. Rest of the weapons aren’t seriously as good as the above two.

I can see the advantage of the Hauteclaire, but given the hights you have reached within the Crystarium, the advantage is arguably neglectable in relation to a good weapon effect.

actualy i found insta stagger really usefull if u equip all ur characters with it and its pretty easy with light/fang/shaz.. even if the odds are bad, u still get it times 3 if u count everyones insta stag ability.. it doesnt really matter how many times it work on one enemy, as everyone know by now, FF is a game where u either play just to see the ending, or play cuz u really like it. if ure leaning towards the second, u find insta staggering abilities really usefull as ull find urself slaying LOTS of adams and luigis in which case, 4 out of 10 are gonna get insta staggered few times making u hit 999% at the start of the battle.. dont know if im not making wrong asumption here, but i think instant staggering also works when u’re sabotuer..
