Orphan

By This boss I was refering to the one before orphan saying that if you have trouble defeating it you will not stand a chance against orphan.

Orphan(part 1) always starts the battle by slicing you with the sword before you can change paradigms so make sure your starting formation has as many sentinels in it as possible as they reduce the damage from the attack which would otherwise lower your entire teams hp to 1. Orphan keeps using that sword attack periodically throughout the battle so try to predict when it is coming and switch to the paradigm with your senitnels because it can result in an instant loss if the dark orb hits your party leader directly after the attack.

Immediately switch to med/med/sen then when you are at high hp go com/sab/syn and buff/debuff before going 3x rav and increasing his stagger guage switching to med/com/rav or med/rav/rav if your hp start to become low. When he becomes staggered use Cold blood (Shaz as leader) or Army of One (Lightning as leader) to really up his chain % (at about 300% added per use you only will need 1-2 to max the chain%) shifting paradigms to com/com/com just before the animation ends so all party members start with a full atb bar after the shift. Keep attacking unless you need healing or he is about to use the sword on you until he dies. If he is still not dead and the stagger guage is nearly depleted use Highwind (Fang as leader) to try and finish him.

Orphan is very slow to stagger and unless you have a strong team will take 2-3 staggers to defeat (making it harder to get 5 star rating) but if Shaz is in your party give him upgraded Procyons (needs dark matter) as the increased stagger duration will give you a good chance to defeat him in a single stagger. Orphan switches between three summoned helpers that cannot be attacked, a white orb on his left that periodically heals him by about 2k hp every few seconds (insignificant compared to your damage), a black orb that casts negative buffs on your party and does some damage (fatal if used on party leader directly after his sword attack) and his rarely used snake like tail which casts bio and attacks fast for 600 odd damage a hit. If he is not killed fast enough he will cast a Death like maneuver which always connects so consider giving your party leader an item that reduces the chance of death status.

You don’t need 5 stars in this form anyway
But I defeated the second form with snow hope and vanille as sen/med/sab and com/rav/heal
Just let the poison do the work.
Got me a 5 star rating in his second form.

His second form is the bonus that is not meant to be hard just like the final battle in FFVII

I didnt use any of those tactic and i still got 5 star.
